Glendale charter school finds a colorful way to support the school and its students

ABC 15 reports on Heritage Elementary staff members volunteering to spend their spring break building a house from the ground up for a family of five in Puerto Peñasco, Mexico.

MLB.com reports that Dave Roberts, manager of the Los Angeles Dodgers, spoke to Heritage students about diversity in sports and in life, and the effect Jackie Robinson’s legacy had on his own career.

ABC15 reports on the many lessons children are learning at Heritage through Pee Wee Martial Arts classes. Principal Justin Dye said the program teaches self-discipline and strategies for de-escalating confrontational situations.

Students from Heritage Elementary School partnered with St. Mary’s Food Bank and Heritage Helping Hands, to distribute produce to members of the community and Heritage families in need, as reported by Fox 10.

In an interview with 12 News, Vice Principal Sonia Camilli discusses the partnership between Heritage Helping Hands and local charities. Heritage students in Glendale have recently started a food drive to benefit St. Mary’s, St. Vincent de Paul, and fellow classmates whose families may need groceries. Heritage Helping Hands aims to teach students the benefits of selflessness, kindness, and good citizenship while helping those less fortunate.

A live report from 3TV included a visit to campus and chat with Principal Justin Dye about Heritage’s Character Counts Assembly, Not All Heroes Wear Capes. The special event recognized police officers for their service to the community and embodiment of the Six Pillars of Character.

Heritage’s Character Counts assembly was covered by 12 News in a report which showed students expressing their gratitude for the work done by local police. Principal Justin Dye was also interviewed.

Reporting live from Heritage’s Character Counts event, FOX 10 showed students thanking local law enforcement officers for the many services they provide to the community.

Not All Heroes Wear Capes: Recognizing the Six Pillars of Character

GLENDALE, AZ (09/14/16) – Heritage Elementary School invites the police community of Glendale to campus for an event recognizing their service. On September 29 at 9 a.m., students will thank officers with an event called Not All Heroes Wear Capes, during which a representative from the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office will present to the students.
