Who’s Got Spirit?

Show your Falcon spirit at the Dance and Cheer Tryouts this week, August 14, 15, and 17 from 3:15 to 5 p.m. Students who dance their way to the top will learn sideline and halftime cheers, stunts, and tumbling for performance and competitions.

The Great American Solar Eclipse

Here are two fortuitously coincidental facts: the sun is approximately 400 times further away from us as the moon, and the moon is approximately 400 times smaller than the sun. Because of that cosmic congruence, the moon and the sun appear to be the same size. The reason it’s fortuitous is that, during a solar eclipse, the moon exactly covers the face of the sun, allowing spectators a rare chance to see the sun’s atmosphere, or corona.

Wanted: 4th and 5th Grade Ninja Artists

Students in grades 4-5 who want to express their artistic creativity, are invited to join Ms. E’s Ninja Artists Club and expand their drawing, compositional, and mixed media skills. Parents or guardians are welcome to join in!

Meet The Teacher Night is Coming

To ensure your child has a great first day of school, students and parents are required to attend Meet the Teacher Night on Tuesday, July 25, from 5-7 p.m. You’ll be able to sign up for lunches, purchase uniforms, determine bus routes and numbers, bring in school supplies, and, of course, meet the teacher.

Preparing for the Start of School

As a new academic year begins, students start school with new goals, opportunities, and challenges. After a few months of vacation, it may be difficult for children to get back into school mode. Here are some ways parents can help their kids transition from summer break into the school routine.

Other than perhaps pagers in the 1990s, it’s difficult to think of any product designed for adults which has become as ubiquitous among kids as mobile devices have become. (Tell your kids about pagers. It’ll make them laugh.) Smartphones—and, to a lesser extent, tablets—are a necessity in most children’s lives.

Apply Online for the Free and Reduced Price Lunch Program

Heritage parents can quickly and safely apply online for free or reduced price lunches for their child for the 2017-2018 school year. All students must reapply every year. To avoid a disruption in benefits, submit your application by July 31, 2017.
