Hello Heritage Parents,
My name is Mr. Raymond Reid. I am the Life Skills instructor for your 6th, 7th and 8th graders for the 2015-2016 school year. I am a newly anointed Arizonan. This is my first year living in the valley after spending four years living in Flagstaff and am originally from Anchorage, Alaska.
We’re so glad to welcome you all for the 2015-2016 school year. We hope you had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to an amazing academic year filled with learning, growth, and successes for our entire school community, from students and their families to our teachers, staff and volunteers.
The 2015-2016 Heritage sports season is kicking off! Flyers will be going home soon. Fill out and return the bottom half of page two of the flyer with the $25 cash fee. This fee includes a shirt for the student and 8 sessions over 4 weeks. There are a limited number of spots available, so register soon. The end of summer vacation has arrived, and the first day of school has come and gone. Parents have been spending a lot of time getting into the swing of things for the return to school. Whether it is buying new school supplies, getting a haircut, or an end-of-summer outing, the signs around us are all pointing toward the start of school. Getting ready for school and having a smooth transition from the carefree summer to an academically driven schedule is on the minds of many parents. We’ve put together a few tips that might help you and your family prepare for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year.
It is now simpler and “greener” to apply for free- and reduced-lunch program. With four easy steps, you can skip the easy-to-loose paper forms and complete your annual application digitally:

Great news! Our school gym was recently updated with brand new volleyball courts and glass basketball backboards.
We have made bus signs for your students to post in your front yard. Heritage Elementary School Glendale offers free bus transportation as just one of several resources that help our students succeed in and out of the classroom. We have door-to-door pick-up that is super beneficial for traffic and all of our parents. Come in and ask us how you can get on our route.
Summertime is here! This means days of play, entertainment and good BBQ.
All things fun put aside, remember there are obstacles that come with summer that can be avoided. Here are some tips to make your break away from school carefree and joyous.
Reduced-cost lunch program applications are now available in the school office. Anyone can apply to be considered for the reduced-cost lunch program.
The front office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feel free to stop by and fill out an application for the reduced lunch program.
As a friendly reminder to parents, please be aware that lunch or lunch money will need to be provided until the application is approved. If you applied last year, a new application needs to be filled out this year.
Summer break can get expensive; the key word in this sentence is CAN. There are so many ways to keep children’s minds and bodies actively entertained while they are off school for the next few months. And enjoying fun-filled summer break activities does not mean having to empty your wallet.
