The development of good reading skills in early childhood is the best predictor of future academic and financial success. The earlier kids learn to read, the better. The challenge is, not to teach kids to read, but to create an environment where kids will learn to love reading.

March is Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month. A lot has changed in the 30 years since Ronald Reagan proclaimed the first Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month in 1987. The main change has come in education which, until fairly recently, had no cohesive plan for teaching the developmentally disabled.
Enrolling in school has never been so much fun! On Friday, March 24, from 5-8 p.m., Heritage’s Spring Enrollathon will have bounce castles, food trucks, pony rides, game booths, circus performers, and much, much more. It’s all FREE with a re-enrollment packet.
In observance of the March 2nd birthday of Dr. Seuss, Heritage is having a celebratory Seuss-themed lunch for adults ($5) and students (regular price).
February is Black History Month, the evolution of which has an interesting history of its own, and dates back to the end of the Civil War.
On Thursday, February 23, we’ll be showing The Secret Life of Pets for Movie in the Park Family Night. Enjoy an evening of outdoor entertainment on our brand-new field, and watch the movie on our new giant screen. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the movie starts at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free.
