Friday, October 2 marks not only the end of the semester, but the beginning of our Fall Break as well. With the combination of Fall Break and Columbus Day, students will be out of school through Monday, October 12. School will commence on Tuesday, October 13.

The quarter ends this month and Heritage Elementary School, your Glendale charter school, will be sending home report cards soon. Instead of just pin-pointing on the grades, look at these as part of an ongoing conversation about your child’s education. Report cards are a great way to notice and celebrate accomplishments, as well as a tool to help set explicit goals for the upcoming quarter or the rest of the year.

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, “Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of our country.”i

My name is Mr. Raymond Reid. I am the Life Skills instructor for your 6th, 7th and 8th graders for the 2015-2016 school year. I am a newly anointed Arizonan. This is my first year living in the valley after spending four years living in Flagstaff and am originally from Anchorage, Alaska.
We’re so glad to welcome you all for the 2015-2016 school year. We hope you had a wonderful summer and are looking forward to an amazing academic year filled with learning, growth, and successes for our entire school community, from students and their families to our teachers, staff and volunteers.
The 2015-2016 Heritage sports season is kicking off! Flyers will be going home soon. Fill out and return the bottom half of page two of the flyer with the $25 cash fee. This fee includes a shirt for the student and 8 sessions over 4 weeks. There are a limited number of spots available, so register soon. It is now simpler and “greener” to apply for free- and reduced-lunch program. With four easy steps, you can skip the easy-to-loose paper forms and complete your annual application digitally:
- Visit www.heartlandapps.com.
- Select your state (Arizona) and then your school district (Heritage Elementary).
- Follow the easy, step-by-step instructions that guide through entering student and household information.
- Click “Apply” to submit your application for meal benefits.
It’s that simple!
Great news! Our school gym was recently updated with brand new volleyball courts and glass basketball backboards.
We have made bus signs for your students to post in your front yard. Heritage Elementary School Glendale offers free bus transportation as just one of several resources that help our students succeed in and out of the classroom. We have door-to-door pick-up that is super beneficial for traffic and all of our parents. Come in and ask us how you can get on our route.
